What does it mean to “notice the the collateral beauty”?
In life, we are faced with many different horrors and traumas such as, death, heartbreak, loss of a career, etc., in those different events, where is love? Has it left our side, or is it within them all? There are many times when we get a sense of defeat due to hurts, heartbreaks, and sadness, and the common words of comfort seem to be “always remember, this too shall pass”, easier said than done, right?
Yet, here we have “Collateral Beauty”, showing that love, being so strong, not even death can dishevel it. Learning to embrace the new and profound reactions from people after tragedies, simply is embracing and noticing the Collateral Beauty. I am reminded of woman such as Vanessa Bryant, and Lauren London who have recently suffered from the loss of their spouses. They endured many different feelings and emotions including heartache, confusion, anger, doubt, possibly even revenge, but Love, which is the greatest of them all, helped them to accept what so many of us take for granted, the Collateral Beauty.
So when things seem bleak, there is always beauty waiting on the sidelines.
